Ghost Watchers (fiction)

"Is there anyone here with us tonight?" Mike asked. He was the blond, messy, haired leader of the Ghost watchers. "Is this the hospital you died in?" Of course there was no answer, it was very rare to get a response right out loud. The hope was to catch a response on the digital recorder or the cameras microphone. A door squalled somewhere in the distance.
Luke, the youngest and also the one  who got the most scared in these situations, asked in a shaky voice, "Did you guys here that? What was that?" His fear was evident in every word.
In a much stronger voice Tyler, the third member of the Ghost Watchers also the most demanding, asked "Is that you Nolan? Show yourself you coward!" Tyler was the one who liked to taunt the spirits, some would call him disrespectful. "Are you the one that pushed that nurse?" Tyler paused to let the recorder pick up an answer if one came. "Come push me!" He said forcefully, "I am not scared of you."
"Do you always have to be so aggressive with them?" Luke asked in his, usual, soft voice. The kid had a shaved head and was always wondering why he was crazy enough to come on these stupid adventures.
"Don't be scared Luke," Tyler said. Luke always hated it when Tyler said these kinds of things, it was embarrassing. "Nolan is a bully. Bullies thrive on fear, don't give him the satisfaction of letting him enjoy yours" Luke thought to himself.
Something slammed into a wall, this noise was closer than the door they heard a moment ago. This time it was Mike that spoke up, "Bro I am with Luke, I don't like it this time." Mike never got scared, he lived for the rush of hearing unexplained noises, "This place is different, Do you feel the energy?"
They had been standing in a long hall that connected the emergency room to the unknown rooms of the hospital. The three of them where in the basement so it was most likely storage. Lining the cherry wood walls hung pictures of doctors, past and present. Every eye in every picture seemed to be watching to see what the three would do next. If Luke and Mike would have gotten their way then they would have left with no hesitation.
"I here you Nolan," Tyler stated as forcefully as ever, "Come and get me I am waiting for you." Tyler's voice ran away down the cherry wood hallway into the unknown darkness.  Tyler hoped his voice would reverberate to the spirit haunting this hospital. Tyler got his response.
An ice cold wind burst down the hall like an ice tornado. Doors, as far as the ears could hear, began banging open and shut. Luke's face was a mask of pure terror. Mike's heart tried to pound its way out of his chest and run away down the hall. Tyler, on the other hand, was grinning like a loon from one ear all the way to the other.
A whisper hit them, as the ice tornado passed, "My name is not Nolan, it is Isaac." Excitement over came Tyler but before he could express it one last message came to them, "I am coming for you."
Tears instantly formed in the corners of Luke's eyes, he had never in his life felt this level of intense fear. "Where is the door?" Luke asked in his trembling voice. The young man wore his fear right on his chest like a super hero logo. Before his companions could answer him, Luke sprinted away from the direction of the voice, Mike was on his heels followed, reluctantly, by Tyler.
Every corner they turned made the hospital seem to shift around them. All the halls looked identical, besides the absence of the doctor pictures. They would make a left turn and Luke would get the terrifying feeling of the hospital shifting its halls, though he would not have been able to articulate this point. Luke ran until his legs burned and he gasped for breath. They stopped in a hall that looked almost identical to the hall they had first been in.
Another door squalled but this one was at the end of the hall that they now stood breathing heavily. "Look," Mike said in a breath out of unmoving lips.
From the door shined a strange blue light that was slowly moving closer. They all stood paralyzed,a sense fear seemed to be accompanying from the light, keeping their legs unmoving. All the muscles in all their bodies felt to be taking on an amazing cramp. Luke's stomach muscles seemed to be tearing themselves apart.
Through the open door at the end of the hall walked, or maybe floated, a dark eerie figure. In its right hand it carried a strange wooden walking stick, atop the stick sat a,blue, glowing crystal ball. As Isaac moved closer the fear intensified, Luke wanted more than anything to run but his legs remained frozen. The blue light began to show his pale, almost plain, face. This man was terrifying.
Tyler's stomach felt like it was in a blender on high speed, sweat poured down Mikes chubby face. "You should not have come," the demon called Isaac informed them. Luke lost control of his bladder his urine soaked his lap then ran down both legs. Where is your bravery now boy?" Isaac asked in an eerie whispering voice. He was close to them now, he wore a black hooded cloak that mercifully hid his eyes.
Luke's legs turned to into wet noodles and he collapsed into a puddle of his own urine. The fear became painful, Luke's heart was beating so fast that he thought that it would explode. Mike had also collapsed on the floor leaving Tyler standing alone to face Isaac. Tears poured down Tyler's face as the apparition stood directly in front of him. Both of their faces illuminated by the blue light, like two men sitting on either side of a strange campfire.
The man wiped away Tyler's right side tears away with a cold hand, like a man comforting a sobbing girl. "Did you challenge me boy?" Isaac asked him. Tyler wanted this nightmare to end, he would never have thought he could find this much trouble hunting ghosts. He wanted to collapse like his friends but could not because of an unseen force. The same unseen force lifted his feet from the floor like a puppet on a string. Mike had moved into the fetal position, and began to sob uncontrollably.
"I can smell your fear boy," Isaac said then inhaled deeply though his nose, "Smells beautiful like a field of lilacs." Tyler felt the life being drained from his body, like as if the man was were a leach sucking out his inner youth. Isaac seemed to be starring past Tyler's eyes deep into the young mans soul. Tyler's hair began to go white as his mouth fell open. He tried to close it but his muscles no longer worked. Isaac's wrinkled face began to tighten like a man aging younger. In his mind he imagined Isaac reaching down his throat with the icy cold hands and removing his life.Tyler's face began to age, tiny invisible crows stepped next to his eyes leaving their feet prints of age.
Isaac was smiling into the once young mans face smiling a yellow toothed smile. Tyler watched as the spirits teeth straightened then whitened. Tyler's cheek began to sag like those of an old wrinkled hound dog. Isaac's robe feel to the floor exposing the disgusting body of a hundred year old man. Tyler's thick biceps shrunk into limp spaghetti noodles, while Isaac's reversed the process and grew into strong arms. Isaac's stomach transformed from flabby to the wish of any work out junkie would love to have.
Tyler now looked like a frail old man and the once old apparition now stood before them as a model specimen. He was young, naked, bald, and extremely handsome. He examined his hand with a smile. Isaac looked like a snake closing in on a helpless rat. "I am done with you," Isaac whispered coldly. Tyler's breathing slowed then ceased.
Isaac now stood above Luke Smiling down on him like a shark. "You shouldn't have come," Isaac's voice was as cold as icicles, "but i think you know that. Since you are here please allow me to show you to your rooms."  Isaac turned back the way he had come. By some strange magic, Luke and Mike's stiff body followed him down the hall to some unseen room in this forgotten hospital.
